AIDAS in history,h wrote Martin Bernheimer, the Pulitzer Prize winning Music Critic in his review of Carol Neblettfs performance for Opera Pacific in Orange County. He also stated that her vocal capability gplaces her in rarified company among current spinto sopranos.h

Miss Neblett is a leading soprano with the Metropolitan, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Buenos Aires, Teatro San Carlos (Naples), Salzburg, Hamburg, Covent Garden, La Scala, and virtually every other opera company in the world. Both critics and audiences alike have acclaimed Miss Neblett as a singing star, equally at home in opera, recital, concerts, radio, television, recordings and films. Her exceptional talent has caused critics such as Harold Schonberg of The New York Times to write, gThere never was a moment when she was not in vocal or dramatic command.h

At the age of eighteen, after touring with the Roger Wagner Chorale, the soprano made her professional debut at Carnegie Hall in Handelfs Solomon and subsequently sang the Angel in Respighifs Laud to the Nativity at the Los Angeles Music Center. These highly acclaimed concerts initiated her career, leading to international performances with the great symphonic orchestras.

Miss Neblett made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1979 as Senta in the Jean-Pierre Ponnelle production of Der Fliegende Hollander, conducted by James Levine and has sung regularly with the Met in roles such as Tosca, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, the title role in Manon Lescaut, Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera, Alice Ford in Falstaff, and Minnie in La Fancuilla del West, to name but a few. In the 1993-94 Metropolitan Opera season, Carol celebrated her 25th operatic anniversary as Musetta in La Boheme.

Miss Neblettfs signature roles include Pucchinifs Tosca and Minnie in The Girl of the Golden West. In 1976, she made her debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Tosca with Luciano Pavarotti, and has sung this role more than 200 times. Miss Neblett was invited to sing Minnie with Placido Domingo for Queen Elizabethfs 25th Jubilee Celebration at Covent Garden, which was filmed live as well as recorded. Martin Bernheimer wrote of her performance of Minnie in 1991: gNeblett approaches Pucchinifs complexities and contradictions with unflinching abandon. She summons tones of gleaming brilliance for the heroic outbursts, caresses the line with a sensuous legato in the tender passages and illuminates the parlando utterances with fine expressive point.h

In 2002, the National Association of the Teachers of Singing (NATS) will present Miss Neblett in a special performance in which she will discuss how she built her career and demonstrate many of her vocal techniques covering a variety of styles of music, from the Gregorian Era to contemporary types.

A video demonstrating Miss Neblettfs concepts of singing and acting will be filmed in 2002 for future release.

Miss Neblett has been a featured guest in many television shows including fifteen performances of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and has appeared with such diverse performers as Sylvester Stallone, Joan Rivers, Colleen Dewhurst, Robert Merrill, Peter Falk and Robert Blake.

Miss Neblett currently teaches a series of master classes at Chapman University in Southern California, entitled gThe Complete Singer.h She privately coaches young performers who are currently launching their careers.
